Every Stage 3 is different. Depending on your engine and your goals, it can include:

• A bigger turbocharger, or the turbo from a more powerful version of your engine

• Increased displacement

• Sport camshafts

• Supporting parts, so the rest of the vehicle keeps up: injectors and fuel supply, intercooler and cooling, reinforced clutch

• A remap built for your new hardware, tuned on the dyno

Not necessarily. It depends on how it's done.

Manufacturers often use the same base engine in several power versions, with the main difference being the turbo and the injectors. If your vehicle has the lower-power version, fitting the parts from the higher-power version takes the engine to a level it was already built to handle.

Stage 3 is for you if:

• You've reached the limits of Stage 2 and want to go further

• You have a clear goal for your vehicle

• You see it as a project, not a quick upgrade

Stage 1 or Stage 2 is probably better if:

• You want more power with no parts changed, or only bolt-on parts

• You want a remap that can be reversed. Stage 3 replaces engine parts, so it's a permanent change.
